Please be aware of our company policies:
Dognormous Policies
These are the basic policies and procedures of Dognormous. Non-standard conditions arising during the performance of services, including but not limited to coat condition, styling requirements and cooperation of your cat, may add to the final price. By signing on the new client form, you agree to pay that final price upon completion of the grooming services and further, you agree to each of the following terms and conditions. If you have any questions, please let us know prior to the start of the grooming session. Any changes to our policies will be posted online. It is understood that the signature at the bottom of the new client form applies to any future changes and requests for services where the agreement has been altered. Dognormous has the right to refuse service to those who do not comply with our policies or to those who are disrespectful to Dognormous and Dognormous staff.
-Payment Policy-
All fees for services rendered and products supplied are due at the time of service. Dognormous is an appointment-based business. The appointment is the responsibility of the client and all reminders are a courtesy only. Appointments that are missed without proper notification are disrespectful to our groomers and other clients who wished to book those appointment slots and are subject to a mark into the client record as well as cancelation fee up to 50% of their total price of serviced booked. If three marks are accumulated, then a deposit equal to the price of the groom will be needed to hold an appointment with Dognormous, which will go towards the groom of said pet on the day of appointment. If the appointment is missed with a deposit, the deposit is lost. Proper notification is defined as 24 hours in advance, but will be considered on a case by case basis up to the appointment time. As soon as the appointment time has passed without a phone call, it will be considered a “No Call, No Show.” Dognormous does give a fifteen minute break for being late to an appointment. If the scheduled groomer of Dognormous shall agree to take you after you’re allowed a fifteen minute tardy break, there would be a late arrival charge added to the groom total. The allotted time lost will be added onto the appointment hourly rate. Dognormous has the right to refuse service to a pet that arrives more than fifteen minutes late to its appointment and loss of deposit, if a deposit is made.I understand that Dognormous offers an Extended Day service for dogs left over 5 hours. This service is not available for cats. Cats must be picked up 15 minutes after your heads up text. I agree to pay $8 an hour for the extended day service in the event that it was not my original intention to leave my pet that long. The Dognormous Salon closes at 5 pm during the week. I understand that if I show up past the posted closing time to pick up my pet, I will be charged $10 per every fifteen minutes that I am late. After waiting with no call for a half an hour past closing, I understand that my dog will stay the night.
-Abandoned Pet-
If a pet is not picked up timely, there will be an attempt to reach the pet’s owner. If Dognormous is unsuccessful in reaching the owner a half an hour past closing, the pet will be securely left in a crate with a meal and plenty of water for the next day. A boarding charge will be applied to the total cost of the grooming services of $60 a night. If the pet is not recollected with fees paid after one night stay, the pet will be placed with the Humane Society. For safety and insurance reasons, we are not permitted to take owner’s pets off the premises. Your pet will remain in a crate on the premises until the Humane Society claims the pet. Out of compassion for each pet, Dognormous takes abandonment very seriously. If contact is made, we try our best to work with you, please keep in mind that the staff of Dognormous has plans to uphold after hours. Please be courteous of our staff.
-Safety & Liability-
To ensure a safe environment for our groomers and each pet, please inform us prior to grooming if your pet has bitten someone or has aggressive tendencies. We reserve the right to stop the grooming process if the groomer feels your pet’s behavior is compromising his/her safety or the safety of the groomer. Prorated charges may apply for the services achieved during and time spent for pets visit. Dognormous is not responsible for damage or injury resulting from a pet’s behavior, including but not limited to the pet running away or biting a person or another pet.
-Matted Coat and Skin Condition-
Removing a heavily matted coat carries risks to your pet of nicks, cuts, razor burns, or abrasions due to skin conditions such as warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the matted coat. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that exist prior to grooming. Aftereffects of grooming a matted coat can include itchiness, skin redness, self inflicted irritations, and failure of the hair to regrow. An owner may request a groomer to demat their pet in which fees will be applied, in addition to the standard grooming cost, which is rated by time. Dognormous may choose to do so only if the pet’s condition is not severe, or unhealthy, and if the pet remains calm during the process. Dognormous is not responsible for any adverse effects of grooming a matted coat. It is the goal of Dognormous to make your pet’s experience as stress free as possible, and will always put your pet’s best interest first.I understand I may need to apply sunscreen to my shaved pet until enough hair grows back to protect my pet. I also understand my pet may exhibit brief behavioral changes as a result of shaving. I understand that there will be photographic documentation upon matted cases, and will be stored in the client record.
-Photographs & Videos-
Dognormous takes photographs and videos of before, afters, and to document conditions found while grooming. These photographs or videos are stored in the client record for future reference, including but not limited to future grooming procedures. Dognormous will also take photos and videos and present them with social media to help show the skills of our groomers, what specials we have to offer, and or the way we handle our services. I understand that photos and videos are part of our everyday grooming appointments and I agree to allow my pet to be used in social media forms to help showcase the services upheld at Dognormous.
-Anal Glands-
Dognormous does an external expression of anal glands only upon request. Dognormous will only express glands externally, no matter what kind of experience a groomer may have from past experiences. Dognormous does NOT express anal glands on cats. I understand that external expression is not as effective or safe as an internal expression done by a veterinarian. Dognormous is not responsible for any complications that arise due to external expression based upon owner request. Please consult with your vet before making this request.
-Flea Control-
Dognormous is a flea-free environment. Flea treatment will be administered at the first sign of fleas on dogs only. It is not always noticeable upon check in, and fleas can show once water is applied to the cat. Dognormous will make a courtesy call to ensure you may take necessary precautions at home as well. By signing, I understand the policy about fleas and give Dognormous permission to administer this treatment and agree to pay the product charge if fleas are detected during my pet's grooming appointment.
-Senior Pets and Pets with Health Problems-
Senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury. These pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort in styles that will not add to their stress. This means we will do the best job we can, given the condition of the pet. Sick animals left in our care will be charged an extra care fee if the circumstances warrant it.
-Vaccinations-
Dogs: By signing, I affirm that my pet is current on all required vaccinations and licenses. The state of Illinois does not require proof of vaccinations prior to grooming services, and Dognormous will seek affirmation of vaccinations only in relevant cases.
Cats: By signing, I affirm that I will provide proof of my cat’s rabies vaccination. If my cat is not medically eligible to receive the rabies vaccine, I affirm that I will provide a letter from my vet stating this.If my pet is not current on all shots and licenses, I understand that Dognormous is not responsible for any viruses, diseases, etc. the pet may pick up from exposure to a multiple animal environment. I also understand that if my pet bites any person, Dognormous is required by law to report the bite, and I agree to pay all quarantine charges and fees associated with an unvaccinated bite incident and will not hold Dognormous responsible for any subsequent charges or reports due to the incident.
-Veterinary Care-If my pet becomes ill or is hurt and requires the services of a veterinarian, I hereby give Dognormous permission and authorization to obtain treatment if I am not available to do so, and I agree to pay for any and all veterinary services. If Dognormous is the one to cause an accident, veterinarian responsibility will be upheld, but only at the vet in which it is recommended. If the pet is sent home, and an injury seems to have arrived, Dognormous will need to be contacted first before veterinary care is seeked, or all veterinarian services will be paid by the owner. If the recommended veterinarian agrees that it was a groomer's cause, then expenses will be upheld by Dognormous.
