Hosting a Mock Competition!
Dognormous has always been a huge promotor for education and we all have seen what Nicole has brought home from those events. With a new space coming soon, Nicole knew she wanted to be able to offer more education to more of the groomers in the surrounding area than just the little one on ones our little salon can offer. A date was chosen, people were gathered, and the planning started.
All the event information can be found by clicking the Join Us button here, but we are very excited to be offering such an amazing opportunity for local groomers and the groomers of Dognormous.
Another really cool thing that Nicole decided to bring in is a model dog competition, where groomers use plastic dog models with wigs made specifically for groomer education. This allows groomers who can’t get a live
dog to practice on, to have a model they can try new techniques on. The best way to improve your skill is to practice, and if we can each share our knowledge, our skills will only improve for the better. This model dog competition will be creative focused, so having these model dogs will allow groomers to practice application skills with color and glued accessories. It also allows them to push out some creativity and break up the everyday groom routine.
Because education is so important to Nicole, her staff are always eager to take educational opportunities. “Bringing other groomers opinions in helps us see something done a little differently, and Nicole always encourages us to seek different perspectives. She says it helps us find our individual signature style,” Katie (Dognormous employee at Wheaton) states. So Nicole spoke with her fellow competitors in the ring and is bringing in some very accomplished groomers for the competition.
